Taylor Swift meets Down's syndrome fan suffering from cancer after viral campaign

Victoria Marsh's wish came true when her local police department launched an online crusade to get the star to visit.

It's not every day a teenager gets to meet their all-time hero - especially when that hero is global superstar Taylor Swift.
But Victoria Marsh from Delaware was thrilled when she got to meet and chat to the Shake It Off singer following a viral campaign.
Victoria, who is 13, loves swimming and Taylor, and also has Down's syndrome.

Famous friends: Victoria Marsh was thrilled when she got to meet Taylor Swift.

Last year, a pain in Victoria's ankle turned out to be osteosarcoma - a type of bone cancer.
As well as undergoing rounds of chemotherapy, Victoria's leg was amputated as part of her treatment.
Her local Dover Police Department made a parody video of Shake It Off earlier this year and when they were given free tickets for a Taylor Swift show, offered them to Victoria and her mum Karen.
Priceless penmanship: Taylor Swift even signed the cast on Victoria's leg

Sadly Victoria was too ill to go, which gave the police department another idea - creating an online #swiftawish campaign to get Taylor's attention.
It worked, of course - and that's what makes this story so heartwarming.
Victoria's mum Karen told Buzzfeed that when her daughter was allowed by doctors to leave hospital for a few hours, she got to meet her hero.
Fun loving: Victoria, who is 13, loves swimming and Taylor, and also has Down's syndrome
“It was an incredible and very memorable evening," she said, adding that Victoria was a “very grateful girl".
