The star's no show at the event at Finsbury Park could cost the organisers thousands, as each ticket is £68.75
Fans of Nicki are demanding refunds after she missed her entire set at Wireless Festival this evening due to "travel issues" on the M1 motorway.
Organisers were left red-faced when they were forced to admit that they had lost touch with the hip hop artist when she failed to appear on stage at Finsbury Park in North London.
A message which flashed up on screen read: "Special announcement: we are told that she was due to be speeding down the M1 from Luton Airport as we speak but we have lost contact with her, we are hoping that she will be here soon."
According to the festival's website, she was due on stage between 7pm and 8pm, ahead of headliner David Guetta at 8.40pm.
Organisers later added: "We're assured Nicki Minaj is still on her way and will perform with David Guetta. He's on at 8.30 and she'll join him soon after."
At gone 9pm she still hadn't arrived on stage as David performed their duet Turn Me On without her and fans made reference to last year's event when Drake failed to turn up.
One outraged fan posted on Twitter: "@WirelessFest last yr it was drake this yr Nicki?! How do we apply for a part refund We came just for her A song with David ain't gd enough. (sic)"
Another wrote on the social media site: "@WirelessFest can I have a refund. Came to see a full Nicki set. Had to leave #shambles #weekendruined #NickiMinaj #noshow."
One fan, who did not wish to be named, also told Mirror Celeb: "I've been waiting for Nicki all day. I'm very disappointed. I will definitely be asking for a refund."
"Feel really bad for @NICKIMINAJ fans who spent money on tix & travel, expecting a 60min set, to be told she'll be joining Guetta #Wireless," one user also wrote on Twitter.
Another added: "I would be fuuuuming if I was at Wireless right now waiting for Nicki. F*** the joint set, I'm on my way for a refund."
The official Wireless Festival website says tickets for today were £68.75 (£62.50 plus a £6.25 booking fee per ticket), meaning Nicki's no show could cost organisers thousands of pounds.
She last night performed at a festival in Denmark but may have left little room in her tight schedule for unexpected travel problems.
Highways England earlier reported heavy congestion between junctions nine and eight in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, close to Luton Airport, following a care fire.

Ticket holders at the weekend festival booed when the pop star failed to start her highly-anticipated set.
Abie Smith, 23, said she was "gutted".
"I was here to see to see Nicki," she said. "But now I need to go home as I'm working tomorrow.
"They maybe should have sorted out the timings a bit better. I just love Nicki, so I'm gutted."
